Kee Moon Jang, PhD

Dr. Kee Moon Jang is an assistant professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) Thrust of Urban Governance and Design. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at MIT Senseable City Lab and completed his PhD with focus on urban design and analytics at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He also holds a bachelor and master degrees from KAIST.
Working at the interface between cities, people, data and design, his research interest is in leveraging data-driven approaches to understand the interaction between urban environment and people, and draw implications for future planning based on quantitative evidence.
Research Interests: place identity/placemaking, green space accessibility/exposure, visual AI application to cities, LLM-augmented urban planning and design, future smart cities

Jiqian Huang
Research Assistant (2026-)
Jiqian earned a Master of Engineering from South China University of Technology and a Bachelor of Architecture from Hunan University, specializing in Urban Analysis and Design.
